After several weather delays, the Sony Open is finally underway. Players were able to dry off their clubs and splash into the second tournament of the season. This is the first full-field PGA Tour tournament of the season. It’s a big day for 27 of the 144 players on the course, as this is their first game on the PGA Tour. These rookies have realized their dreams of becoming the next big thing in golf. For 9 of the players this is literally their first Tour event (great way to start off in Hawaii-Aloha). Early leaders in the tournament are Stuart Appleby at 6 under (64), Justin Rose, and Mark Wilson.
