Over in Hawaii at the Sony Open it was Mark Wilson’s surprising bogey free game which lead him to a victory. He finished his amazing stretch with a 12 foot putt and finished his game 3 under 67 to beat out Tim Clark and Steve Marino. It was a 36 hole marathon after bad weather delayed the start of this tournament, with 6 minuets in between rounds Wilson clearly thrived under the pressure. With this victory he has also earned himself a trip to the coveted Master’s this spring.
While it hasn’t happened on the U.S. PGA Tour yet the PGA European Tour already has their first defending champion, Charl Schwartzel. Schwartzel successfully defended his Joburg Open title on Sunday after he birdied the last hole to give 4 under 67 and a four stroke victory. This has also qualified him for next weeks Abu Dhabi Golf Championship. He was the favored to win as he was the highest ranked player on the field at No. 32.
