Donald’s Deserved Triumph

It was an well fought fight during the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship on Sunday. After snow (yes I said it snow in Arizona) delayed things Sunday morning it was still a great start for Luke Donald. Matched up with Martin Kaymer a #1 seed for this competition and freshly #1 in the world, Donald had no problem taking the lead. In fact Donald never trailed during his matches the entire tournament. Making him the first player to win without ever playing the 18th hole.

The only thing discussed more than Donald’s fearless playing was Martin Kaymer’s scarf. The commentators couldn’t get enough of it, finally figuring out it was a buff they just about predicted this to be golf’s next biggest trend. Guess you have to talk about something when it snows. From a beginners perspective I thought this target type course was an incredibly interesting format one wrong move or slice and you’re literally in your own sand trap or desert.

Let’s also not forget the clubs he used, that buzzed about TaylorMade R11 made it’s first win (which was inevitable since both Donald and Kaymer were playing it).
