Dustin Johnson unable to hold onto his lead this weekend at the WGC-Cadillac Championship as Nick Watney drained an Eagle to make it the biggest win of his career. Watney made a few clutch shots down to DJ making a eagle to force a playoff Watney closed with a birdie to finish it off. The course at Doral, has one of the toughest holes to play but the entire front of the pack was only separated by a few stokes. This was definitely a show for the “young guns” or “rookies” who took the course on like they owned it. Players in the top ten included Watney, Johnson,Francesco Molinari, Matt Kuchar, Luke Donald, Adam Scott, Rickie Fowler, and Hunter Mahan. But the real talk at the tournament was the not so dazzling play between Mickelson, Woods, and McDowell. Mickelson seemed to be taking his game in the opposite direction where as Tigers last round finished a 66 showing he may still have what it takes. Even with that last day glory round Woods, Mickelson, Westwood, nor Kaymer made it into the final standings (so much for their WGR to go up).
Less than a month away from the Master’s, who’s ready to see the new owner of that green jacket?
