The popular trend in golf these days seems to be beating your competitors by astronomical numbers. First Rory broke records at the U.S. Open now Yani Tseng won the LPGA Championship by 10 shots. Did I mention there both only 22.
Tseng definitely held up her end of the bargin being the #1 player in the world with her birdie rounds. On her way to a grand slam, this is her 4th major win and officially the youngest LPGA player to win all 4. We will see if she can keep the streak going the U.S. Women’s Open is only 2 weeks away in Colorado.
Meanwhile Fredrick Jacobson found his first win on the PGA Tour at the Travelers Championship. Winning by one stroke with his final round score of 4 under 66. If you missed Friday’s showdown amateur golfer and UCLA sophomore Patrick Cantaly broke his first record on Tour becoming the 1st amateur golfer in history to accomplish a 60 to lead the tournament by 4 shots going into the weekend, not bad for a weekend round of golf for this 20 year old.
